Tarrik Mabon
A man of faith and service, Tarrik has led Middle School chapel for several years and is excited to step into this school-wide role. Beginning his journey as a Mustang in 2014, Tarrik has demonstrated his passion and dedication for Mount Vernon as a Middle School history/humanities teacher, PE instructor, Head Basketball coach, mentor, and role model among many other roles/responsibilities. Given the gift of delivery through compassion, Tarrik’s chapel messages are inspiring, inclusive, and always filled with hope. He is well-loved by parents, students, and faculty who are continuously inspired and energized by the way he models values of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control.
“Once again, I am completely blown away at GOD’s grace and mercy over my life. It is with great humility and honor that I assume the role of Director of Spiritual Life. Mount Vernon is truly a special place for myself, my wife Sherida and our two boys, T.J. and Shemar. In these unique and challenging times of growth, I am encouraged that GOD is going to permeate our community in a beautiful and loving way. Truly grateful to be at an institution that took a chance on me and believes in my passion”
In this time where well-being and health are more in focus than ever, Tarrik is well-positioned to care for our students and nurture the spiritual health of our Mount Vernon Community. He will continue to teach PE in the Middle School as he transitions into this role and has already begun reimagining the chapel experience for this unique school year.
