Dear Grade 6, 7 & 8 Families,
We are very excited to announce our Middle School class trips for the 2019-20 school year!
Grade 6: Mountain Trail Outdoor School (MTOS)
The Mount Vernon sixth grade class and members of our faculty and staff will be visiting the Mountain Trail Outdoor School (MTOS) from February 26-28. Sponsored by Kanuga Conferences and located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, MTOS is a residential environmental and outdoor education program. The MTOS curriculum combines community-building activities, adventure-based programs, and natural science studies. Several weeks of pre-site preparation in the classroom, on-site experiences at MTOS, and post-site work all combine to generate a unique, stimulating learning experience. The goals of the trip are as follows:
- To provide youth and adults the chance to experience a positive community.
- To promote self-confidence through challenge by choice.
- To increase awareness and stewardship of our fragile ecosystem.
We look forward to an amazing experience. More information will be forthcoming.
