We are Liz Aull and Desirée Vogt, Co-Chairs of Friends of the Arts for the 2019-20 school year. Friends of the Arts is an organization of parents who help make our arts events exceptional. Last year we were wowed with a jam-packed arts season, debuting in August with Drama Boot Camp and the K-5 performance of Alice in Wonderland, to our senior production in May of Lend Me A Tenor. The year included our unique annual performance of a Christmas Carol, two concerts held in the new City Springs Theater, and our Director of Visual & Performing Arts created and led co:CREATE - our city's first-ever educational conference based on the infusion of the arts.
Liz has volunteered as co-chair of Friends of the Arts for the past three years. She has a tenth-grade son who is involved in the theatre department, as well as other art classes. Liz has watched the fine arts department grow by leaps and bounds over the past three years and enjoys the opportunity to support the arts faculty and students in their endeavors.
This is Desiree’s first year volunteering for Friends of the Arts. She and her husband David have two girls. Addison is a ninth grader, entering the Upper School, and Holly is a seventh grader. Both girls are involved in the arts program here at Mount Vernon, from throwing pots, to singing on the stage, and both are super excited about the upcoming theater season.
This year we are looking forward to our third annual 72-hour play challenge, our first road tour, the Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, RE:MIX - a Spring Musical Festival, and our grades 5-12 production of Matilda.
As co-chairs, we coordinate family volunteers for MV Arts in a variety of ways. Please join our Director of Fine Arts and the MVPA for a fabulous year of exciting events. We will need more than ever the support of our arts families. From set design to concessions to showcase set-up, there are a variety of ways for families to join the Friends of Arts community.
We are also looking for supporters for the Friends of the Arts. This is a great opportunity for us to share our resources specifically for the Arts. Please join us in joining this special group of ARTS enthusiasts.
