Students remaining in the Atlanta area over Interim term will have the opportunity to participate in CORE (Collection of Relational Experiences.) Centrally focused on student interests, the CORE group will explore and demonstrate Mount Vernon’s five learning principles:
- Curiosity and Passion Drive Learning
- Relationships are Foundational for Learning
- Learning Demands Interactive and Flexible Spaces
- Empathy Influences Learning
- Learners Apply Knowledge to Make an Impact

2018-2019 REGISTRATION PROCESS
Once students have read through each of the available experiences, they will be able to register online, by ranking their choices.
CORE opportunities will be rolled out November 15. Students will register November 29.
*Students will be emailed the registration link.
The registration time stamp, grade-level seniority, experience availability, order of preferences, and minimum number of participant interest (5 students) are the qualifying factors which will be used to place students into their CORE schedule.
Students will be notified of their CORE schedule 2-3 weeks prior to Interim Term.
All student accounts will be invoiced in March for a base fee to cover the costs of CORE. Lunch will be provided on campus, or in the form of a box lunch each day. Students wishing to purchase lunch outside of these offerings may do so at their instructor’s discretion.
Students will meet at Mount Vernon Presbyterian School during normal school hours each day (7:50 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) unless otherwise noted in the course description. Attendance will be taken daily, and will be factored into student attendance records. The School cannot accommodate students arriving late if their experience has already left campus. Arriving on time is essential during Interim Term.
Students will participate in (i)experience four days of the week, Monday through Thursday. Friday will be a half-day. “Day of Service” for all students in the CORE group. Attendance is required.
