Gifts of Securities
Gifts of appreciated securities allow the donor to avoid paying capital gains on the increase in value. The donor also receives a tax deduction for the full fair market value at the time of the gift. Read more details here or have your bank or broker contact P. Scott Hayes at Wells Fargo Advisors at (678) 893-7743.
Any items that would typically be purchased by the administration may be donated as a gift-in-kind. The estimated cash value, as determined by Mount Vernon Presbyterian School, is tax-deductible. Please contact the Office of Philanthropy at (404) 252-3448 before making your gift-in-kind donation.
Corporate Matching Gifts
Matching gifts are an easy way to double or, in some cases, triple your gift to the School. Search here to see if your company offers a matching gifts program.
Legacy giving or planned giving can create a lasting legacy through gifts made by real estate, trusts, life insurance, and bequests. Planned giving benefits both the donor and the School. Planned gifts provide the opportunity to make a significant gift to Mount Vernon while allowing the donor to benefit from tax-saving strategies and income-producing assets.
Donor benefits include:
- The ability to give a variety of assets – stocks, cash, life insurance, trusts, real estate or tangible personal property
- Increased income for you and your family
- The ability to defer income until needed
- Charitable income tax deductions
- Reduction or elimination of capital gains or estate taxes
As a donor, the income from your planned gift can be used for purposes such as retirement income or to help fund your child’s or your grandchild’s education. When considering a planned gift to Mount Vernon, we recommend that you consult your tax advisor before claiming a deduction.
For more information about endowed gifts, please contact the Office of Philanthropy at (404) 252-3448.
