Mount Vernon Magazine, Summer 2016
Christopher William “Kitt” Peterson, Class of 2011, received his undergraduate degree from Georgia Tech and is currently studying Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois (MS/Ph.D.). It was recently announced that he was awarded a 2016 Graduate Research National Science Foundation Fellowship. Out of 17,000 applicants nationally, only 2,000 were selected for the fellowship.
Kitt says, “The fellowship is great to receive because it will allow me to focus on research and my classes without having to worry about or be distracted by the financial aspects of graduate school. It will also give me a lot of freedom regarding what I study because I don’t have to worry about securing funding for research or work on projects that are already funded.
For me, being a Mustang means being part of a family. I’m still close with my former classmates, and I think we will always find ways to stay close in the years to come.”
