As 2017 concludes, we welcome the opportunity to recall our many blessings, as well as reflect on the growth and progress of our children. An incredible amount of learning has occurred since August, and we look forward to celebrating our students’ tremendous accomplishments.
Learning occurs when reflection takes place. Our learners in Preschool through grade 12 have regular, ongoing opportunities to track their learning progress and approach reflection in a variety of ways. At this time of year, it is helpful to zoom out to see a more holistic, summarized view of learning. In order to do this, we share end-of-semester progress reports, which are division-specific.
At Mount Vernon we incorporate a comprehensive and balanced assessment system, as diagrammed in our Learning and Assessment Map (LAM). This system includes a great deal of information about a student’s learning, gathered from multiple sources, as shown in the graphic below.
Throughout the first semester of this year, students received feedback and comments through countless exchanges with their teachers and peers. Parents and students participated in conferences, and student learning moments were chronicled in portfolios and e-portfolios. While we have been using the MV Mindsets for the past six years, this year we have intentionally included MV Mindset feedback on each student’s progress report.
First semester progress reports are now available, which include various MV Mindset reporting. Please click below to learn more about each division’s comprehensive and balanced assessment system and explicit directions for accessing information about your child’s learning this semester, including the MV Mindset data.
Happy Holidays!
